Prof. Varun Chawla

As a nephrologist with 13+ years of experience, I am passionate about providing high-quality care to patients with kidney disease, kidney stones, and hypertension. I currently work at West Coast Kidney Institute and Chabot Nephrology Medical Group, where I consult and treat patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I also collaborate with other specialists and health professionals to ensure optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction. My clinical interests include diabetic nephropathy, continuous renal replacement therapy, plasmapheresis, renal bone disease, and hypertension. I have a master’s degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and I am certified in nephrology by the ABIM Foundation. I am also involved in clinical research and have authored several peer-reviewed papers on various nephrology topics. Additionally, I serve as an advisor to several pharmaceutical companies and contribute to the development of new drugs and therapies for kidney diseases. I am honored to have received multiple awards and recognitions, such as America’s Most Honored Doctors and Top Doctors in the San Francisco Bay Area.
