Good questions

Kidney tools – your questions, answered

Are these kidney tools free?

Yes – every calculator, symptom checker and lab explainer is free and needs no sign-up. Your inputs are used only to show your result and are not saved unless you choose to. KidneyGlobal is a non-profit initiative.

Can these tools diagnose kidney disease?

No. They help you understand a result or symptom and decide what to discuss with a clinician. They do not diagnose conditions or replace professional medical advice.

What counts as a normal eGFR?

For many adults, an eGFR of 90 or above is in the usual range, but the full picture includes urine findings, age, health history and whether a result stays low over time.

Which equation does the eGFR calculator use?

The eGFR tools use the CKD-EPI 2021 creatinine equation and map results to KDIGO GFR categories.

My result looks abnormal – what should I do?

Do not panic or change treatment on your own. Save the result, check the explanation, and speak with your clinician about what it means in your context.

Is my health data private?

The tools are designed to show results in your browser. Nothing is stored without your consent. Avoid entering information that could identify you.
