Dr. Kausik Umanath

I am currently the Director of Clinical Trials in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. My research focuses on the design, conduct, and analysis of large-scale randomized clinical trials in nephrology/hypertension, particularly in delaying the progression of CKD. Additionally, I am also studying mechanisms of difficult-to-control hypertension using a translational approach employing the analysis of urine cell transcriptomes. My expertise centers around protocol design and endpoint selection/design, medical monitoring, trial conduct, and safety. I have served as a National Lead Investigator for the DAPA CKD Trial. I also have experience in blinded endpoint adjudication. I am a practicing Nephrologist who cares for patients across the care continuum from CKD to Dialysis as well as complex inpatient care including CRRT.
