Dr. Harry Dounis

Harry Dounis is a nephrologist and partner at Shore Nephrology, P.A. He has been a member of Shore Nephrology since 2010. Shore Nephrology is a busy private nephrology practice in central New Jersey. Dr. Dounis is involved in all aspects of nephrology care including treating patients with uncontrolled hypertension, electrolyte disturbances, chronic kidney disease, glomerular disease, edema, kidney stones and acute kidney injury. He manages a large number of patients on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and those with renal transplants. Dr. Dounis also has experience with continuous renal replacement therapies. He is involved in pharmaceutical clinical research trials as well. Dr. Dounis has privileges in 3 area hospitals and is involved in the teaching of medical students and residents. He is the assistant medical director at the Renal Center of Brick Dialysis Unit. He completed his nephrology fellowship at Long Island College Hospital and his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Dounis has been involved in various hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis research projects. He has presented abstracts at major nephrology conferences which include the National Kidney Foundation, the American Society of Nephrology and the Annual Dialysis Conference. Prior to becoming a physician Dr. Dounis was a registered pharmacist.
