I’m a nephrologist from El Salvador, working on clinical and field research and attending pattients of the epidemic of Chronic Kidney Disease of undetermined cause (CKDu, CKDnt) in Central America, aka Mesoamerican Nephropathy (MeN), since 1998 when we first described the disease at Hospital Nacional Rosales in San Salvador. I do field research work with the AGDYSA field research team, community work with the Emergency Social Fund for Health of Tierra Blanca Town at the Bajo Lempa region (a hot spot of MeN), and clinical work at the Centro de Hemodiálisis in San Salvador city.
