Prof. Irene Synodinou

I am a Nephrologist working in the Renal Unit of Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth,UK. The Wessex Renal & Transplant Service (WRTS) is located in newly commissioned premises at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The WRTS provides a comprehensive renal service to an adult population of approximately 2.2 million, covering the majority of Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the adjacent parts of Wiltshire and West Sussex. The unit is currently part of the Portsmouth Hospitals Trust Division of Medicine. My usual clinical practice regards Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension, Diabetic Nephropathy, Αcute Kidney Injury, Glomerular Diseases, Haemodialysis, and Kidney Transplantation. Special interests are acute kidney injury, Glomerular Diseases, Vasculitis, Lupus Nephritis, and Kidney Transplantation. I am one of the four Transplant Physicians of the Unit, heavily involved in acute transplant care and the Lead Physician for the Living Kidney Donor Programme. I was professionally trained in one of the biggest and most respected nephrology and transplantation centres of Greece, ensuring high standards of competent care for a wide variety of patients. For more than twelve years now in renal medicine, I am always determined and with a great sense of responsibility, with strong leadership skills, ability to innovate and influence change, but mostly with a deep compassion of the well being of my patients.
