Prof. Anthony Cusano

I have been a practicing physician for over 30 years, focusing on strong patient relationships, understanding the science of human life, and educating students, trainees, colleagues and allied health professionals in both of those endeavors. I have participated extensively over that time in helping to manage our local, regional and national health system, in particular, our community health and hospital services, and services for the care of patients with chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease. As I enter the final phase of my career I hope to leave a legacy that promotes patient centered, patient directed medicine by integrating the prudent management of medical science, technology, and resources with kind and personal care of patients who are in need. My work is now focused on coaching patients in ways to collaborate with their caregivers so that their care remains patient centered, patient directed, scientifically sophisticated, and safe. I also coach doctors and other caregivers to better collaborate with their patients.
