Prof. Muhammad Qasim
I am a Consultant Nephrologist at Russells Hall Hospital, part of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. My clinical work covers the breadth of renal medicine, with a particular interest in transplantation and the care of older patients with advanced kidney disease. As part of my job plan, I also contribute to the medical High Dependency Unit, providing senior cover for acutely unwell patients.I completed a PhD in Transplant Immunology at the University of Birmingham and am currently finishing a PhD examining outcomes of transplantation in elderly recipients, as Principal Investigator of the AGEING Trial, a Chiesi-sponsored study in collaboration with Professor Adnan Sharif at University Hospitals Birmingham.I have a long-standing interest in simulation-based education and have been involved in developing the nephrology registrar training programme across the West Midlands, with work presented at ERA Congress 2026.Outside of my NHS role, I founded T3 Academy, an online learning platform for 11+ and secondary school students. It is built around a simple idea: that good practice, done consistently, is what makes the difference.I am broadly interested in where medicine, technology, and education are heading, and enjoy working at the edges of all three.
