Training our future Nephrology community is an honor. At Houston Methodist we accept two first year fellows each year and have the only Transplant Nephrology fellowship training in Texas. At a time when interest in Nephrology nationwide is falling we are challenged to reignite the fire of passion for the care of those with chronic kidney disease and kidney transplant. We hope more medical students and residents will see the many doors that are open to an exciting career as a Nephrologist. I founded Apex in 2015 after more than a decade in academic medicine. I feel my experience as former Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas transplant at Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist (Medical Director of Transplant Network and Pancreas transplantation) and UTMB in Galveston has given me a unique perspective on the world of transplantation in Houston and Galveston. I am very proud to have been part of the team that helped re-built the transplant programs at UTMB (2008) and UT Health (2011). As Chief of Nephrology at UTMB I oversaw and led a growing division in the oldest medical school in Texas. I feel I have attained amazing clinical and administrative skills in my roles at these fine institutions. My training at the University of Minnesota gave me a view of medicine and transplant in the Midwest.
