I am professor of Renal Medicine at the University of Bristol, Director of Research for Bristol NHS Group, and work clinically at the Renal Unit at North Bristol NHS Trust. My research interests include the epidemiology of kidney disease and pragmatic trials of complex interventions. I was Medical Director of the UK Renal Registry (2013-2019) and two of the trials that I lead use linkage to registry and routine healthcare data to optimise efficiency and generalisability. I lead the International Society of Nephrology’s registry initiative (SharE-RR) and am treasurer and honorary secretary of ISN. In March 2024 I was appointed Director of Research working across the two secondary care hospitals in Bristol, North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals of Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
