Dr. Emily Petersen

I am an experienced Nephrologist who has lived and worked in Coeur d Alene since 2011. I am a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and I have spent time teaching at the University of Washington WWAMI program. I am currently Medical Director of Nephrology at Kootenai Health and Medical Director of Palouse Dialysis in Moscow Idaho. I have medical staff leadership experience as Chief of Staff and Chair of Credentials committee from 2017 through 2022. My time in leadership led to an interest in advancing caregiver wellbeing at Kootenai Health, and after obtaining the AMA Joy in Medicine Bronze Award I worked with an outstanding team to create the Kootenai Health Caregiver Wellbeing Committee in 2022. I have been Medical Director of Caregiver Wellbeing at Kootenai Health since 2023. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Kootenai Health Foundation and for PFLAG Coeur d’Alene-Kootenai County.
