Dr. Peter Burke

Below is my Biography. But briefly, I focus most of my efforts on improving our care delivery system with a specific focus on patient safety, quality and cost reduction. Peter A. Burke Jr., D.O., MBA attended Hamilton University as an undergraduate, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. He earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a master’s in business administration at the University of Delaware. Dr. Burke completed his residency in internal medicine at Christiana Care Health System and Nephrology Fellowship and Transplant Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Health System. Dr. Burke has published original research on the management of chronic kidney disease in patients with and without congestive heart failure and has made numerous poster presentations at the Delaware American College of Physicians Research Symposium, the American College of Physicians National Associate Member Research Symposium, the National Kidney foundation, the Society for Hospital Medicine, and the American Society of Nephrology. He has also recently received a grant and honors from Thomas Jefferson University Health System with regard to his work on the Catheter Last Campaign and improvement on transitions of care for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. Dr. Burke is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the Medical Society of Delaware and the American Society of Nephrology. He has received honors as an ACP National Poster Competition Finalist in 2010 and 2011. He has published numerous case reports in Internal Medicine sub-specialties and Quality improvement with regard to floor management of DKA and resident improvement in RRT systems.
