Dr. Chiara Paccagnella

I am an Italian doctor with a specialisation in Renal Medicine. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery in October 2017 from the University of Bologna (Italy). I then completed my postgraduate specialisation in Nephrology at the University of Verona (Italy), graduating in 2023.During my university studies, I participated in a four-month Erasmus Placement at the Unit for Metabolic Medicine, Cardiovascular Division, King’s College London (KCL), United Kingdom. As a specialist trainee, I actively attended the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit of the AOUI in Verona, gaining specialist skills in the fields of nephropathy, dialysis and transplantation. I also spent three months at the Transplant Centre of the AOUI in Verona, acquiring experience in both the surgical and clinical aspects of kidney transplantation. I also completed a six-month extra-curricular internship at the I.R.C.C.S. Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa (Italy), where I further developed my interest in paediatric nephropathies.Since July 2023, I have been employed as a Consultant Nephrologist at the Hospital of Reggio Emilia (Italy), where I am involved in the follow-up of outpatients with mild to advanced chronic renal failure. I am also involved in the clinical assessment of patients admitted to the Nephrology ward and the follow-up of patients undergoing chronic haemodialysis treatment.During my career, I have developed advanced skills in the management of extracorporeal and peritoneal dialysis, as well as acute and chronic patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I deepened my skills in the interpretation of laboratory and instrumental data, in the prevention of complications, and in the multidisciplinary coordination of therapeutic pathways. I gained experience in the diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary glomerulonephritis.
