Dr. Tiago Cerqueira

My main interest is to bring together different fields of knowledge to develop innovative practices. Firstly, I have a great interest in data science and how to use health care data for quality management, and help implement a data driven environment. I’ve worked with AI and machine learning models, as well as grouping systems such as DRGs and other classifiers. Other than that, I also work with efficiency measures as far as payment practices are concerned. In the medical field, I am a nephrologist involved with research and medical education, where I also apply data science to manage our dialysis clinics. My research interest lies mainly within glomerular diseases, kidney transplant, and chronic dialysis, where I have several publications. Regarding education, I am involved with Competency-Based curriculum and development of EPAs. Besides that, I am a senior TA at the clinical research Master program at Dresden University. Finally, I have leadership skills acquired at the many years of medical direction at one of our dialysis centers, before moving to a career in the much needed medical data science field.
