Prof. Amitabh Kulkarni
I’m a Consultant Nephrologist with more than 18 years of clinical experience, now practicing in Dubai and managing the full spectrum of kidney care. My clinical experience spans UAE, India and Canada from high-volume tertiary centers to JCI-accredited hospitals where multidisciplinary collaboration is the norm. I manage patients across the entire nephrology spectrum: CKD, glomerular diseases, diabetic kidney disease, transplant medicine, dialysis (hemodialysis and acute therapies), hypertension management and management of complex metabolic disorders. I routinely perform kidney biopsies and interventional procedures In Nephrology.Education and public communication have become core parts of my work. I create educational videos for doctors and medical students, speak at CMEs and conferences, and host a healthcare podcast where I break down complex topics for a wider audience. Over time, I’ve realised that a clinician’s responsibility doesn’t end at the bedside; it extends to helping people understand their own diseases and reducing the fear that comes with chronic conditions. My current professional interest is in how precision medicine, AI-driven analytics and real-world evidence can reshape nephrology. The challenge isn’t just about adopting new tools. It’s about integrating them responsibly, avoiding over-reliance on automation, and ensuring that clinical acumen stays central. I’m committed to exploring how these technologies can be used in a way that respects the patient’s individuality and improves long-term outcomes.Outside the hospital, I’m active on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and podcast platforms, sharing content on kidney health and medical reasoning. If you’re working in nephrology, chronic disease management, healthcare quality, medical education or AI-enabled clinical workflows, I’m always open to meaningful discussions or collaborations. My professional network is an important part of how I continue to grow, learn and challenge my own assumptions, and I enjoy connecting with people who think deeply about the future of medicine.
