Dr. Merranda Logan

Transforming healthcare through operational excellence has been the cornerstone of my career. With a deep commitment to improving care delivery and outcomes, I bring extensive experience in administrative leadership spanning clinical, non-clinical, financial, and research oversight. Developing and implementing strategic initiatives that drive performance, enhance patient safety, and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement are my specialties. My formative experience began with an internship at a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, where I trained under Lean and Six Sigma-certified Black Belts. This early exposure to high-reliability principles, process improvement, and teamwork shaped my problem-solving approach long before I entered medical school. As a physician, I took on executive leadership early in my career, serving as Associate Chief Quality Officer at Massachusetts General Hospital. In this role, I led efforts to ensure high-quality, safe, efficient, and equitable care across a major academic medical center and its community hospital affiliates. I developed programs to proactively identify and mitigate risks across various settings—from routine care to high-risk ambulatory procedures, rural medicine, and even potential hospital mergers. In 2020, when the pandemic disrupted healthcare operations, I answered the call to bring operational efficiency to two of the most critical departments: research and graduate medical education. As Associate Chief Academic Officer for Mass General Brigham, I oversaw the strategy, operations, and finances of academic functions during a period of unprecedented growth in research activity, clinical trials, and care innovation. Throughout my career, I have led cross-functional teams and leveraged data-driven insights to drive meaningful change in complex healthcare organizations. I am committed to aligning clinical excellence with operational efficiency—ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care while empowering healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and equitable services.
