Prof. Awad Magbri

Biography Dr. Awad Magbri is a prominent interventional Nephrologist (IN), researcher, CC nephrologist, & educational mentor who has dedicated his career to improving the quality of healthcare in his community. Born and raised in Libya, he graduated from Benghazi Medical School, University of Benghazi, where he worked as an interventional radiologist (IR) and angiologist before he developed a passion for medicine and nephrology. After completing medical training, he worked as IR and angiologist in Libya. Dr. Magbri moved to Ireland, where he worked in medicine and nephrology and acquired his MD, degree in Immunology of H. pylori from the National University of Ireland and MRCPI from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He then moved to the United States, completed a residency training in Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Griffin Hospital, CT, and completed a fellowship in Nephrology at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington DC. During his fellowship, He became particularly interested in IN, which focuses on minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat kidney diseases. After his fellowship. He has worked as a clinical and IN in several different settings, including hospitals and outpatient clinics. He has the tremendous capability for setting up multiple ASC centers, from the ground up, for IN procedures in Pittsburgh, PA, Toledo, OH, and Weston Hospital, WI. He is known for his skills in procedures such as dialysis access preservation and maintenance, CVC and PD catheter placement, and kidney biopsy among others. He has developed new techniques for these procedures, which have improved patient outcomes and reduced complications, Besides being a clinician, he is a dedicated researcher who has published numerous papers in internal medicine, nephrology, and IN. He has also published textbook chapters that helped to advance the field of nephrology. Dr. Magbri is committed to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. He worked as a preceptor for medical students, nurse practitioners, residents, and fellows. He has been recognized for his excellence in teaching. He is particularly passionate to improve healthcare access in underserved communities and has worked with several organizations to provide care to those who need it most. Throughout his career, he has provided high-quality healthcare to his patients, advancing the field of interventional nephrology through his research and teaching, and he is widely respected in his field.
