Prof. Ruben De Bruin

Recently I finished my training as a Medical Doctor with honours at Leiden University. I will now continue my training as a resident Internal Medicine (AIOS) within the „Groene Hart Hospital” in Gouda. Previously I have obtained my PhD with honours in vascular disease and molecular biology within the Department of Nephrology (Professor T.J. Rabelink) and Einthoven Laboratory for Experimental Vascular Medicine (Professor A.J. van Zonneveld & Dr. E.P. van der Veer) of the Leiden University Medical Center. Within a highly motivated team of researchers and clinicians, I focussed on unraveling the role of a RNA-binding protein called Quaking in vascular pathophysiology that is highly relevant to patients with kidney failure. In the future, I will strive to combine both basic and clinical research with clinical practice to improve healthcare.
