Prof. Adekunle Omoniyi Ajayi

I am a seasoned Specialist Physician and Nephrologist with a solid background in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Clinical Research. I earned my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees in 2005, followed by a Diploma in HIV Management in 2010, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus), now known as Sefako Makgatho University, in 2013. I then completed a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Family Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017, along with the Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians (CMSA). Subsequently, I specialized in Internal Medicine, achieving the Fellowship of the College of Physicians and an MMed (INT MED) from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2021. I further sub-specialized in Nephrology, earning the Certificate in Nephrology (Cert Neph (Phys)) from the College of Physicians (CMSA). My extensive professional experience includes roles as a Medical Officer at St Barnabas Hospital in Libode, Eastern Cape, Schweizer Reneke District Hospital, and Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital. My Nephrology training was primarily conducted at Helen Joseph Hospital within the Wits Academic Circuit, including rotations at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and Wits Donald Gordon Academic Hospital. Currently, my interests are focused on Chronic Kidney Disease, Autoimmune Conditions, Dialysis, and Kidney Transplantation.
