By the time most patients find me, they have already heard the worst. They are sitting across from a physician explaining the difference between a deceased donor and a living donor, while their family members grip the chair and quietly Google “transplant evaluation” under the table. I’m that physician in the room. I’m a transplant nephrologist; and before that title means anything to you, know this: „I almost didn’t make it here.” Medical school didn’t just challenge me. It fractured something. The years that followed were heavier than I ever said out loud, to anyone. I didn’t know what I was building. I just kept going. Turns out, the doctors who’ve been lost make the best guides. Now I lead the kidney and pancreas transplantation programs at one of the most respected transplant institutions in the nation. But what actually gets me out of bed isn’t the title. It’s the moment a patient understands what’s happening to their body. That’s why I founded Teaching Kidneys LLC, because medicine has a language problem… When patients don’t understand, they disengage. When trainees don’t understand the 'why’, they memorize instead of think. I built a platform to fix that: visual, honest, rigorous medical education that treats people like adults. Because if you don’t understand it, I haven’t done my job. Off the clock, you’ll find me on a motorcycle. Not despite the risk – because of what it demands. Total presence. Situational awareness. Respect for what you can’t control. Same as transplant medicine. Same as good leadership. I’m always open to connecting with clinicians, builders, educators, and anyone who believes medicine should be more human than it currently is. https://teachingkidneys.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrOPsikGvhA1qnkFYMVq9OA/videos
